I work in the public schools, and today was a snow day. I had a little bit of a lie in this morning, and in doing so, I looked at some art books. I got inspired to try something, ran to Michael's to get some plaster strips and then did something completely different when I got home. Creativity can be fickle like that. It's ok, that idea is percolating and will come to fruition when the time is right.
I love making polyptychs or triptychs, which are paintings that have two or three separate paintings that make-up one painting. When I finally got to work today, I ended up grabbing some different materials and put them together. I used a matte gel medium and a stencil to make the raised circles. I also used R&F Paint Stick in Indian Yellow, a couple of used tea bags, some old rolled up wire and some ink. It can be amusing to take a number of unrelated objects that are just lying around the studio and make something. I highly recommend it. Why doing you give it a try? Wherever you are, I hope you are warm and dry, and preferably not having to deal with a snowstorm.
In Gratitude, Karen
