The other day I showed you my new art journal and the first background that I did. Today I worked on completing the first pages. Doing so got me thinking about creating for myself. With an art journal, I am making art for myself; it's not anything I am going to sell or give away. In this journal, I am making art to please myself. I'm creating for the sheer joy of it. Or I might be working out a design I want to try somewhere else, and this is a sketch, for lack of a better word.
I am finding art journaling to be very personal and enjoyable. When the pressure of making something to sell is taken off, I noticed that I feel freer to play and let loose. We are all creatives, though many people deny that they have any creativity. I believe they haven't discovered it yet. Art journaling is a safe way for people to start exploring their creative side and not have to worry about anyone seeing it. There are plenty of videos on YouTube on how to get started. Art journaling is very gratifying, and I highly recommend giving it a try.
